Why we love this flower:
The Mona Lisa Anemone is a masterpiece of colors, and puts out up to 18 flowers per plant. The brightly colored blooms are 4" to 4.5" inches across and sit atop sturdy 18" inch stems that are ideal for cutting and design work. The pretty versatile flowers can be grown in the garden or in pots where they will naturalize and return year after year.
The flowers will bloom in March through May, and in October to November. To enjoy the multiple seasons of blooms, succession plant the Anemone seeds in spring for flowers in early summer, in early summer for autumn flowering, and in autumn for spring flowering. The Mona Lisas will keep producing flowers until the weather turns hot.
The stems are best cut in the cool of the morning just before the buds open. Use a sharp knife and cut at an angle when designing to provide good water intake. Replace the water daily as these cut flowers are very thirsty. Keep in a cool part of the home out of direct sunlight and the flowers will last 7 to 10 days.
