What does "F1" mean? F1 hybrid seeds refers to the selective breeding of a plant by cross pollinating two different parent plants, indicating a newer variety into the flower garden world. With the Apollo F1 series of Cosmos, this hybrid has a naturally dwarf habit and bright display of color. The larger flowers of nearly 4" and better petal quality leads to much greater impact. The Lovesong Cosmos will bloom in pinks, whites, and a picotee blend of both colors. Plant this flower in front of your other Cosmos varieties for a lovely border and tidy appearance in the garden.
Individual blooms will last in the vase about 4-6 days, but each stem is loaded with multiple blossoms that open over a period of a week. Harvest when buds are cracking, but haven’t fully opened in order to prevent insects from pollinating, which will help stretch the vase life by a few extra days. Flower preservative is recommended. Deadhead through the harvest season to keep them blooming longer. Once established, water only in very dry periods as Cosmos are heat and drought tolerant.
