Why we love this flower:

  • Uses: Cut flower, beautiful filler, ideal for drying
  • Garden growth success: Easy (can be invasive)

The yarrow plant is an herbaceous flowering perennial which comes in shades of sunny pastel blooms of pinks, yellows, oranges and browns. The 2" to 4" inch flat-topped flower heads grow on 24" stems that are sturdy with fern-like foliage. Yarrow makes an excellent cut flower with a long vase life, and can also be dried and used in crafts. It flowers in the first year from seed. Low maintenance, but can also be invasive. The plant is also an aromatic herb which has many healing properties.

Yarrow is pest-resistant, drought-resistant, attracts butterflies, and supports beneficial insects such as damsel bugs, lacewings, lady beetles, and parasitic wasps.
